Face is a Mask

“The female infanticide in India and china have raised the possibility of a world without women.”

Using the female head as a metaphor of femininity, and the skin of newspaper as a space between the past and the present and reality and myth the sculpture is about the duality of existence and illusion.The paper flowers personify the fragile state of being.

The newspaper collage is the skin. The newspaper covering the face, the world wrapped in daily news. Metaphorically the newspaper is the skin of the world, news -the present, the past,and the future world, the news of depleting women at an alarming pace, leading to a world without women?

The face asks the questions and ponders over the answers while it reminds of the present and warns of the future.
